# run.zero

> run.zero (run-zero.de) is a Platform-as-a-Service by Get IT Done GmbH, Nuremberg, Germany. It builds and runs web apps, APIs and websites on servers at Hetzner in Nuremberg, with managed Postgres, Keycloak login, HTTPS and custom domains. AI agents deploy through its MCP server.

- Builds: Paketo buildpacks detect Node.js, Python, Go, PHP and Java from package.json, requirements.txt, go.mod, composer.json, pom.xml or build.gradle. Dockerfiles are not built. Ready-made container images run with `image:` in run-zero.yaml.
- The web process listens on $PORT (default 8080). Node apps pin "engines": {"node": "22.x"}; Node 23+ does not run on the current stack.
- run-zero.yaml at the repo root describes services (path or image, port, public, env, with ${service.url} substitution) and top-level addons with attachTo. Addons: postgres (injects DATABASE_URL) and keycloak (injects OIDC_ISSUER, OIDC_CLIENT_ID).
- Every service gets https://<service>-<app-slug>.run-zero.de. Custom domains get a Let's Encrypt certificate.
- MCP server: https://api.run-zero.de/mcp, OAuth sign-in. Claude Code: `claude mcp add --transport http -s user run-zero https://api.run-zero.de/mcp --client-id runzero-cli --callback-port 53761`. Tools are named runzero_* (runzero_create_app, runzero_push_files, runzero_deploy, runzero_wait_for_build, runzero_get_logs).
- Limits: no Dockerfile builds, local data is lost on restart unless the service declares `volumes:` (from the Developer plan, one replica, short gap on deploy, daily backup), the Postgres addon is version 18 and has no dump import, PHP cannot use the Postgres addon today (pdo_pgsql does not load).
